The Springs, Thorpe Park


The Brief

The Springs Thorpe Park will be a new development by GMI Construction. Targeting the retail and leisure environment in a strategically placed site along the M1 corridor. The scheme will deliver 32,500m² including retail outlets, restaurants, a gym and a cinema.

The Springs Thorpe Park would make up the retail branch of one of the largest and most diverse out-of-town business locations in the UK. We were chosen to supply and manage the structural package for various buildings within the development.

Our Approach

  • Flexibility of these units is a necessity due to the potential changes in tenants and their requirements. This would mean that variable changes to the project would be unavoidable.
  • We were quick to react to any changes by the client, meaning no disruptions to the programme schedule. We were able to deliver over 100 variable changes to the project without incurring lag times to the handover date.
  • We supplied features such as acoustic and vibration control bearings to facilitate the Gym and Cinema’s operational ability.
  • As well as this we also supplied the Colonnade for the retail sections which would make for a striking appearance visible in the final condition.

The Outcomes

Despite having to work to a complex phasing programme due to major civil works as well as gas main-diversion works around the site. 

We were commended on our ability to adhere to delivery and programming requirements of GMI Construction. As a consequence of our hard work and professionalism, GMI awarded us additional work within Thorpe Park
