Elland Steel operates from multiple locations in the United Kingdom, with our main office situated in Halifax, West Yorkshire. We also have additional satellite offices in Billingham and Central London.
Keith Denham founded Elland Steel Fabrications in a 50m² rented workshop in Elland, West Yorkshire.
1973Elland Steel Fabrications was incorporated and they moved to a 650 m² workshop where the company starts to undertake sub-contract work for larger steelwork contractors.
1982Elland Steel Fabrications Ltd changes its name to Elland Steel Structures Ltd and buys its current 9,500 m² site in Halifax.
1990We worked with Gregory Property Group to deliver Belgrave Court to be the home of HMRC tax office.
The company supplements its drawing office with the 3D detailing system STRUCAD and begins to employ its own in-house designers.
1993Worked alongside Clugston Construction and Morrison’s to deliver a store refurb and extension in Hunslet.
We supplied and installed steelwork for a new aircraft hangar at Exeter Airport that included roof trusses weighing 44 tonnes each.
We are awarded our first £2,000,000 project work.
2004We commence our first work overseas in St Helier, Jersey.
2005We deliver 420 tonnes of steelwork across the channel to St Helier for a four-storied building with rotunda atrium, on behalf of Dandara.
£3.1million investment in production facilities including new drilling and cutting machines, new warehouse space and treatment facility.
2006We were chosen to work on an innovative new hospital championing sustainability and aesthetics. We provided the steelwork and glulam for this project.
We are awarded our first £5,000,000+ project, working on The Embankment, Manchester.
2015Built within the confines of the old Exchange Station in Manchester, this project consists of a 3 storey car park with a 10 storey grade A office block above.
Our turnover exceeds £20,000,000.
2016We were chosen to be part of the MOD’s Primary Build Capacity in Barrow-in-furness, supplying 885+ tonnes of fatigue sensitive steelwork.
Received special commendation at the Structural Steel Design Awards for work on the Central Square Project in Leeds.
2017We were awarded this development in central Leeds, where we supplied 2,000 tonnes of steelwork.
Managing Director Mark Denham awarded as Elected Fellow of Institute of Structural Engineers and Member of Welding Institute.
2018We worked on the retail and leisure outlets in ‘The Springs’ Thorpe Park supplying 1,900 tonnes of steelwork.
Mark Denham elected as President of British Constructional Steelwork Association.
2020We were chosen to deliver multiple projects on the KVF-35 framework at RAF Lakenheath

Mark is the second generation of Denham’s to lead Elland Steel and is one of the leading authorities in structural steelwork engineering. He offers a creative and pioneering approach that is unrivalled in the industry and is constantly hungry to further his already profound understanding of the industry.
He is previous President of the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA), Member of the ‘Fatigue Group’, Chair of the ‘NSSS’ Member of ‘BIM Group’ and Previous chair of the ‘Process and Technical’ Committee. He is also a Director for ‘Steel Construction Certification Scheme’ as well as a Director in ‘Steel for Life’.
Prior to his involvement in the family business he earned his spurs as a Research Aerodynamicist at BAE Systems and as a Design Estimator at Wescol Structures.
Managing Director
Paul commenced his career as an apprentice fabricator and welder, he progressed through the fabrication team to earn a supervisory role. Equipped with the hands-on skills of the industry, he decided to extend his knowledge by heading off to study full-time at University in Leeds.
He joined the Elland Steel team as a Structural Draughtsman, growing his focused expertise of the structural steel industry. He progressed his way through the technical division taking on more responsibility and furthering his skillset. Before becoming our Technical Director in 2008 and now the Managing Director.
Throughout his career Paul has been involved in many of our projects both detailing and overseeing their construction. He has experience working in all of our sectors and the expertise to manage even the most specialised of projects. Paul is an expert communicator and devotes his skills to handling exactly what matters most to our clients.

Jeremy is an industry expert having dedicated 30 + years working with structural steelwork in all facets of the business. He has a deeply engrained knowledge of project management both from a commercial and hands-on approach.
His success is down to his ability to adapt and cater to the needs of his clients, helping shape the business to be much more than just steelwork. Jeremy ensures we can deliver a multitude of services that span further than just the structural framework.
As previously working as a senior project manager he understands the work involved in organising and delivering on large scale projects in a variety of sectors and environments.
Jeremy has worked for an abundance of clients in his career but most recently working for ABB, BAM Construction, Vermont and Lendlease.

Howard has been involved in the structural steel industry for over 35 years, working entirely with structural steel fabricators. He started his career as a drawing office apprentice and through dedication and hard-work built himself up to be our Technical Director.
Having been immersed in structural steel most of his career, he typifies our expertise in the industry. Bringing with him not just experience in the industry but skills from various roles, giving him a truly rounded understanding. During his career, he has worked on all-manner of projects both big and small, each with their unique specifications and requirements, so there isn’t a problem he can’t solve.
Now an Incorporated Engineer & Associate Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, he brings to the team his industry know-how and vast experience, meaning you can trust him to handle your project, whatever the scope.

Tony has worked in the industry for 40+ years, he is an expert when it comes to HSQE in the construction industry, both in a factory and site environment having held various roles incorporating the two.
He chairs the Health and Safety Committee at ‘The British Construction Steelwork Association’ meaning he is at the forefront of innovative thinking in the industry.
Tony’s success is borne from his conscientious character, as well as his vast knowledge of the steelwork industries operational side.

Kelly is an expert people person. Her background is in Business and IT with a degree from Sheffield Hallam University. She has held a variety of roles which has made her a great all-rounder when it comes to the office environment. Whether it be in accounting and finance, IT proficiency or legal expertise.
She joined Elland Steel in 2008 as senior finance officer and office manager, she has progressed to become our Company Secretary. Responsible for staff and company financing adopting a hands-on approach to every responsibility. She has also taken on the responsibility of spearheading our HR department.
Kelly is a highly proficient communicator whether it be internally or externally, she never shies away from getting her hands mucky no matter what the job and we feel she typifies what is so important in this company.

Chris has over 20 years working in the Steel Industry. He has held various roles during this time which has given him an extensive understanding of the industry. Chris heads our Design Department, from commercial conception through to completing the design of the main frame, secondary steelwork, connections and temporary design.
He understands the importance of each stage of this process, having worked in both commercial and design teams during his career. Chris relishes the opportunity to run Design and Build projects through various stages as it enables him to use his wide range of skills.
Chris epitomises our flexibility and adaptability. He has expert understanding of the whole construction process, allowing for and managing many complementary sub-trades including- metal decking and concrete floor, precast floors and stairs, edge protection, intumescent paint and cladding.

Emma has been involved in the structural steel industry her whole career. With twenty years’ experience in the commercial branch of construction there aren’t many types of projects she hasn’t been involved in! She truly has budgeted, estimated or consulted on most types of projects in the industry.
Emma predominantly works on engineer-designed schemes but can advise on design and builds. There isn’t many sub-trades she hasn’t worked with during her extensive career, whether it be glulam, pre-cast units, metal decking, hand railing and flooring. Emma can offer you sound advice or budgeting on most types of projects as chances are, she’s handled it previously.
She is one of our structural steel experts, through her in-depth knowledge of the industry and contracting she can be trusted to handle what matters most to you even when information is limited and time is of the essence.

Gary has been involved in the structural steel for over 30 years. Since starting as an apprentice to being Production Manager, he has held various operational roles which has built his expertise.
Through his development in the industry and time as supervisor and inspector, Gary understands the importance of quality control and management. These underpin his operational ethos and ensure that high standards are upheld in our production facility.
