The Brief

Lendlease were awarded this £100m contract for the ‘Defence Infrastructure Organisation’ to redevelop the Beacon barracks in Staffordshire.

The scope of this MOD project includes various buildings such as accommodation blocks, regimental headquarters, mess and catering facilities, work-shops and medical care facilities. We would be providing the structural packages for 11 separate buildings within the beacon barracks facility.

Our Approach

 

  • This project required careful planning with regards to the phasing and management of each building. This is due to the spread nature of the location.
  • To ensure an efficient programme, we commenced multiple erections of the buildings at one time on site. This enabled us to work to a shorter programme offering the client cost savings.
  • By managing several erection sequences simultaneously we were able to accelerate the program and thus reduce costly time on site.

The Outcomes

We were able to deliver all buildings to a high standard, reacting quickly to variations and issues on site, so as to keep the client happy and the program running smoothly.

Lendlease scored our performance using 9 separate disciplines during and after the project. We scored a ‘Very Good’ in our Quality Management System, Health and Safety, Sustainability and our Partnering Culture.
