Completing a prominent project for partners

Elland Steel has been drafted in to support with the continued delivery of an industrial development, following the sudden closure of another steelwork specialist.

We were approached by main contractors BAM Construction to complete an ongoing project in Portsmouth which was temporarily halted as Conder Allsade Ltd, a structural steelwork supplier based in the city, went into administration.

As a trusted partner of both BAM Construction and BAM Design, demonstrated by our vast range of projects delivered throughout the years of collaboration. As well as achieving a Net-Promoter Score of 75 by our clients showcasing our client satisfaction!

We were entrusted to carry out and complete the design, supply, delivery and installation of the new steel structure, thus supporting their delivery of a turnkey construction. In addition we have previously delivered 2 Units on the same site.

Providing all labour, plant and materials, the support will not only allow the main contractor to hand over the site by the target completion date in 2022, but also mitigates the risk of delay damages.

The project is the fifth unit delivered by BAM Construction and BAM Design on Dunsbury Business Park in Portsmouth, creating a 10,000m2 industrial warehouse and adjoining offices. The new facility supports the expansion of a local business, BioPure Technologies, an industrial/pharmaceutical pipework specialist. The completed site is hoped to create 120 new manufacturing and engineering jobs.

Jeremy Shorrocks, Commercial Director for Elland Steel, said: “We are pleased to be able to support BAM Construction to complete this project, delivering an important facility for the pharmaceutical sector and the people of Portsmouth. As the largest development of a dedicated manufacturing facility on the south coast since 2019, we appreciate the project is a prominent one. We will now complete it efficiently and collaboratively with our partners.”

“Of course, our thoughts are also with the team at Conder Allslade during this period of uncertainty – we know it is a well-respected business which contributed to the expertise and highly skilled staff in the steel sector.”
