Company Environmental Policy Statement


Elland Steel Structures Ltd established in 1973 a BCSA Member, Registered Quality Steelwork Contractor and gained a certificate of Sustainability under the BCSA Sustainability Charter Scheme.

The Company is a Specialist Structural Steelwork Contractor offering a complete package from design, cad detailing, manufacture, final treatment and erection on site of steel frames from 150 tonnes up to 6,000 tonnes throughout the UK.

  • The company will ensure it complies with the necessary legal and legislative Environmental Regulations.

Work with the Local Authority and Clients to meet with all other requirements and those to which the company subscribes.

Review, improve and monitor performance and strive to meet the companies policies and objectives.

  • Be aware of the nature, scale and environmental impacts of it's activities, products and services.



  • In the short term seek certification to BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Standard.



  • Manage the EMS to ensure continuous environmental improvements and prevention of pollution within our organisation.



  • Ensure that operational controls during manufacturing processes, together with modernised equipment and machinery, are used in our production facilities.



  • Promote the best and most efficient use of raw materials, minimise waste, re-cycle when practical and economical, reduce and minimise the environmental impacts from its procedures and processes during manufacturing.



  • Has Introduced a programme of training and communications to all staff, to identify the management structure, delegate enviromental responsibilities and generally increase awareness.



  • Encourage management staff and workforce to be aware of environmental issues, measure impact and progress, maintain, employ document control systems and audit implementation.



  • Inform and educate all suppliers and sub-contractors, of the company's EMS, provide support, if necessary and make them aware of environmental impacts.



  • Site operations must proceed in full knowledge of the environmental issues for each project, sub-contractors should consider such with the plant and equipment they employ and use during the execution of their work.

Risk Assessments will be produced for each project.

  • Regularly review and promote the environmental practices throughout the company; seek to reduce the impact where practical and economically viable and set targets and levels to achieve and maintain.



  • Issue a copy of this policy to all its senior management, staff and workforce, enforce and police to ensure continued environmentally friendly attitudes and provide a copy to clients or any authority or other parties who request it.



  • Policy And Management Systems are readily available to the general public.
